Union Avenue and Dayton Street Corridor Study and Design - Greenwood Village

Joe conducted a one-mile corridor study to evaluate alternatives for adding a left-turn lane on Union Avenue from Yosemite Street to Dayton Street, and on Dayton Street from Union Avenue to Chenango Avenue. The left-turn lane improved access to three schools including Cherry Creek High School, businesses, residential neighborhoods, and the Cherry Creek State Park. Joe recommended altered access to the school campus and Cherry Creek State Park; evaluated improved signalization or a roundabout for Union Avenue/Dayton Street/Dam Road; facilitated meetings with five government agencies, homeowner’s associations, and the public to solicit input on the roadway configuration; prepared conceptual roadway designs with various median, access, and landscaping options; prepared a detailed report documenting the process and recommendations; and completed the design of signals, signing, markings, construction phasing, and work zone traffic control.
